Today is a good day to remind yourself to check in with you. A common misconception people believe is that only people with mental illness need to take care of their mental health. Good mental health helps us to live productive, meaningful lives. Maintaining positive mental health also helps us to cope with everyday stressors in our lives.

Juggling our families, work, financial worries, and physical health can take a toll on our daily lives. Mental health includes our social, emotional, and psychological well-being. Mental health also determines how we handle stress, personal relationships, emotional regulation, and our ability to make healthy choices. Maintaining our mental health is important in every phase of development-from childhood through adulthood. Mental health is also directly correlated to our physical health. Poor mental health can lead to increased risk for chronic health conditions.

Good mental health helps in creating a path for a productive life. It nourishes your ability to cope with everyday stressors and provides the ability to utilize appropriate coping skills when faced with more serious challenges. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health so be sure you are taking the necessary precautions to protect your mental health. Reducing your risk for long-term mental health issues also reduces your risk for long-term physical conditions.
