Coping With The Added Layers Of COVID-19

COVID-19 has certainly brought changes to many areas of our life. Juggling our work demands, children's remote learning schedules, and maintaining our physical health, leaves us little time to check-in on our personal mental health needs. Stress, anxiety, physical fatigue, and depression can be common symptoms while living in this pandemic. Would you know if they are persistent and/or interfering with your daily life?

Symptoms lasting less than two weeks are considered mild. They may include: some sleep disturbances, feeling down but able to care for yourself/others, and feeling unmotivated at work or school. It is important when feeling this way to take notice and implement some self-care strategies. This may include: getting outside for at least 15-minutes/day, speaking with a friend, eating healthy, take a nap, and/or practicing yoga or meditation.

If you are experiencing severe symptoms, such as: appetite changes, mood disturbances, unable to perform required tasks/activities, and/or thoughts of death or self-harm, seek professional help. Reach out to a therapist and/or your primary care physician immediately. Let someone know. You do not have to feel alone as you are managing through these unknown, turbulent times.
